  1. The most peaceful country on earth

According to the Global Peace Index, Iceland is the most peaceful country on the planet and has topped the list for ten years in a row.

The Global Peace Index is an initiative started by the Institute for Economics and Peace to measure the degree of peacefulness in countries across the world according to 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators ranging from military expenditure, violence, crime, its relations with neighboring countries, social stability etc and rank them accordingly.

  1. The Magnificent Northern Lights

The Northern Lights also called as Aurora Borealis are one of the most spectacular shows on earth and are one of the reasons which get people visiting Iceland year after year. They can be frequently seen in Iceland from September through March on clear and crisp nights. They are created by electrically charged particles in the sky that make the night shine really bright.

This beautiful light show is also heavily connected to the Norse mythology. According to pagans, they believed that the green glow from the sky was a reflection of the shields of Valkyries, female warriors who died in battle and those who lived. Other legends say that the lights were an archway towards heaven.

  1. Icelandic Nature

Whenever you see pictures of Iceland, it looks more like fantasy than reality. It’s like an Icelandic eye candy. Whether it’s one of the many incredible waterfalls, geo-thermal hotspots you will be amazed by what the beauty that this country has to offer. No wonder this place is a heaven for photographers.

It is known as the “Most Unique Festival on Earth” by several media outlets. It will be held for the fifth time in 2018, between June 21st – 24th in the Nordic capital of Reykjavik.

With a lineup of different music genres such as rock, hip-hop and electronic music there is something to please nearly every music lover at Secret Solstice. 1. Food in Iceland

Although, Iceland is somehow renowned for its unusual food, the country still does offer some delicious and surprisingly good meals such as lamb; which is one of the fanciest meals Icelanders will eat. Plus, fish is widely available with a lot of variety to choose from.

Apart from this, Hot Dog(yes! I said Hot Dog) is surprisingly popular and there’s a popular hotdog stand in Reykjavik called Baejarins Beztu Pylsur. It’s so good that even former United States president Bill Clinton has eaten over here.
